The Courtesans: UK Erotica Rock

They aren't Spice Girls, but they certainly are spicy!

If you're looking for any details about the band, you'll be hard-pressed to find anything. There doesn't appear to be much in the way of a bio for these saucy sirens. A quick check to their Reverbnation page reveals a historic piece about courtesans, and nothing about the musicians. They actually could be today's version of the Spice Girls or t.A.T.u, formed by audition by a deep pocketed producer. If are you up for some digging, see what else you can find. But don't get them confused with the American power pop band of the same name.

According to the "Touch" link on their website, "The Courtesans live show is a heady blend of Erotica, Live music, Burlesque and intrigue".  The Photography link however, reveals a little bit more (nudge nudge, wink wink): Glamourous stills identified with captions of their names and instrument - Agnes Jones (bass), Saffire Sanchez (guitar), Monica Wild (vocals), Sinead La Bella (vocals), and the aptly named Stix (drums).

For now, they are "one hit wonders" with their spooky, gothic, sappho-esque, R-rated (?) video cover of the Velvet Underground's seminal 1966 track, "Venus In Furs".  Of course, I have included this interestly artsy video for your pleasure. There is also a Soundcloud link on the page to hear just the audio version. But, really, it's just not the same without the visuals.
The next big thing? Or the next big wannabe big? You decide.....

  1. WOW these ladies are certainly stunning and I also think the creative sound they've used is actually better than the original.
We need something new on the scene, something different and why not with a naughty edge, Girls that really rock are hard to come by nowadays and these ladies certainly hold some power. Lets hope they can keep it up with their own material, I look forward to hearing more from them.'The next big thing'
