With the production chops of Bernard Butler (Suede) and John Hill and Dave Sitek (TV On The Radio), former model Lissy Trullie has finished her self-titled debut, for release April 10th on Downtown Records. The debut single, "Madeleine" was pre-released as a free download on her RCRD LBL page earlier.
No doubt she will be attracting a lot of buzz when she takes the stage tonight for her showcase at SXSW, at the IFC Crossroads House, tonight at 9 PM, if anyone in Austin is reading this today.
Another song, entitled "It's Only You, Isn't It?" and it's accompanying video, has just been snuck out into cyberspace. I like this one a lot. It's "in-your-face" punk attitude, laid over the visuals of a middle-of-the-night car theft, are a perfect match. Check out her strikingly cool, bad girl good looks, and extreme Lena Lovich-esque vocals, spit out over an opening melody ripped straight from the 80's ska sound of The English Beat. The guitar stabs at the drum beat, before kicking into high gear. It's crunched up high in the mix, making for a stimulating, retro yet original, experience. Check out both in this video. See if you don't agree. Trullie a hit, isn't it?
