PiRatE BrOAdcAsT #007 (Bond....James Bond)

Thought I'd have a little fun with this one. Since this is number "007". I decided to make it a spy-themed set.

Tracklist:
1. Tape Five - A New Mission/ Tango For A Spy/ A View To A Kill (feat. Iain Mackenzie) - Tape Five are one of the many nulounge/nujazz bands with a retro based sound, influenced by the 60's spy film soundtracks, amongst other things. I couldn't resist putting these three together. They just work so well.

4. Laika and The Cosmonauts - James Bond Theme - Hailing from Finland, the band have been doing their brand of surf rock for over 20 years. As you can tell, they too are obviously influenced by many of the same sounds as Tape Five
, (not to mention the obvious sounds of The Ventures) but with a slightly different output. On this track, guitarist Mikko Lankinen nails that famous guitar riff with just the right amount of fuzz and reverb......a truly excellent version.

5. Vicki Carr - The Silencers - A staple in Las Vegas, Vicki was a part of that 60's lounge sound. Here she sings the theme to one of Dean Martin's Matt Helm movies.

6. Matt Bianco - Whose Side Are You On? - We go back to the 80's for this one. The band pokes a little fun at the genre.

7. Nancy Sinatra - The Last of The Secret Agents - The theme from the spy spoof film, from 1966. The highlight was this "Boots"-inspired song....very tongue-in-cheek.
